How We Work

OUR WORK PROCESS

If you were hurt by someone else’s carelessness, don’t let fears about expensive attorney fees prevent you
from seeking justice.  We don’t charge a legal fee unless we win your case.

The First Meeting

Nobody is looking for a chance to sit down with an attorney, especially one they don’t know.  I understand that meeting with a personal injury attorney can be a little scary. I’ve surrounded myself with a team of good people — the kind of people I grew up with in Buffalo – and we’ll do our best to make you comfortable when we meet.

Our first meeting could take place in my Williamsville or Niagara Falls office, your home, or a local coffee shop – whichever is most comfortable for you. We’ll start by getting to know each other. I’ll be asking a lot of questions and you should too. Hiring a personal injury lawyer is an important decision, and it has to be a good fit.  I want you to feel comfortable that you’re making the right choice.  I don’t expect you to sign anything right away and won’t be pressuring you.

My firm’s main source of new personal injury cases is referrals from former clients. That’s because we keep the lines of communication open. We do our best to simplify the process and help you understand every step of your case.  So that you know we’re working hard for you, you’ll have my cell phone number from day one.  If I am unavailable, my staff can answer many of your questions.

Contingent Fees

All Buffalo personal injury attorneys, including our firm, charge a contingent fee. With a contingent fee, there is no payment for my services up front, and there is no legal fee at all unless we get you a settlement or win your case at trial.  The fee is a percentage of the amount recovered.

With a contingent fee, we don’t get paid if you don’t get paid.  This means that people who have suffered serious injuries can seek fair compensation without worrying about how to pay a personal injury attorney.

For most personal injury actions, the fee is 33 1/3 percent (one-third) of the net recovery. In rare cases, a different arrangement — such as a sliding contingency fee — may be more appropriate.  So that you won’t be surprised at the end of your case at the amount of the legal fee, we’ll talk about the fee arrangement at the beginning of your case and make it part of our agreement.
