Buffalo Personal Injury Accidents Caused by Speeding

October 18, 2013

Western New York is no stranger to speeders on the roadways, and this can translate into motor vehicle accidents leading to personal injury.  Careless and aggressive driving is an unfortunate reality of our daily lives, and auto accidents are a regular occurrence on New York highways and streets.  When drivers flagrantly violate speed limits, they may be putting everyone else on the road at risk.

The New York State Police recently launched a weeklong, statewide enforcement endeavor called “Speed Week” to help curtail speeding and negligent drivers.  According to a statement from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico, speeding is the leading cause of deaths on the roads each year.  As stated in the governor’s news release, about one-third of all fatal crashes are the result of speeding.

The New York State Police hope this – and other enforcement endeavors – will help reduce the number of speed-related crashes and help keep our roads safer.

Speed limits are in place to protect drivers, and motorists who choose to blatantly ignore legal speed limits should be held accountable if their irresponsible behavior causes others to suffer a personal injury.  If you have been involved in a car accident, you may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. An experienced personal injury lawyer will conduct a detailed investigation into the accident and recommend the best course of legal action to take.  If you have suffered a personal injury caused by a speeding driver, please call us at 716-400-0000.
